Revealed Palette Review

I finally got the Revealed Palette from Coastal Scents! I was super excited to try this sucker out when I got it today! The palette consists of 20 eyeshadows. 4 matte Shadows, 10 metallic shimmer shadows, and 4 semi-shimmer/semi-matte (they have shimmer to them but are semi matte as well). This palette is widely seen as a cheaper dupe to the Urban Decay Naked 1 and 2 palettes. I bought this palette mainly for this reason because I don’t think I can consider spending that much on a palette. The packing is pretty nice but I wish it had a mirror.

The first rows of eyeshadows are lighter shadows while the second rows are darker shadows. The matte shadows are marked in red, the metallic shimmer shadows are marked in blue and the semi-shimmer/semi-matte are marked in green.

Below are all the swatches (without primer, 1 swipe or 2 at the most).

Overall, I really loved all the colors. They are highly pigmented and don’t crease. I like the mixture of different eyeshadow textures. However, I do wish that they had a couple more matte colors. I cant wait to try some pretty neutral looks with this palette

IPSY July 2014 Bag Review

So I recieved my IPSY bag really late this month and my glam room changed a week before I received my bag. So the change in products was okay but I wish IPSY would notify me in the future. I recieved the Bare minerals Duo, Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass, Hang 10 Tanning Oil, Pop Beauty Bronzer, and Whet Nail Polish (Blue). The bag this month had cute scalloping but I hated everything else about the bag itself. The color is too pink and the texture is strange. I would like it more if it was a different color (green, yellow, blue, even a lighter pink).

First, the Bare Minerals Duo. I was really excited about receiving this duo instead of the cream shadow! The colors are my favorite and it is a wonderful duo! I really wanna buy some full sized bare mineral shadows but they are like 20+ dollars for like 2 shadows! I will be using this duo alot! This was my favorite item from IPSY so far!!

Below is a swatch without primer (just one swipe!)

Next, Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass. I wasnt sure I would enjoy this product but it has its characteristics. The product is full sizes and the smell is okay (a bit strong). It is supposed to be a cheek and lip stain but when I tried it on my lips, it look forever to dry and the taste of it made me sick. If I hadnt taken some medicidation, I probably would have thrown up. The smell eventually became nauseating when it was on my lips. However as a cheek stain, This product was pretty good. It gave me a nice pinkish red glow on my cheeks and it was easy to use. The smell wasnt as bad when used on the cheeks. So as a cheek product, its good. As a lip product, It fails miserable.

Next, The Pop Beauty Bronzer. I am pretty tan so I dont usually use bronzers unless maybe in the winter. But I was willing to try this as a bronzer because it looked dark enough in the container. However, it was too light when applied. But the shadow itself was highly pigmented and smooth. It is definitely a perfect nude shadow with a light shimmer for me! It will be a good shimmer blending color as well. I really like the product.

Below is a swatch (the top color). It looks like it is darker than my skin but my face is darker than my back of my wrist.

Next, the hang 10 tanning oil. Even though I have tan skin, I love how tanning oils make my skin shine and so I was happy with receiving this product. The smell is really nice (probably not everyones taste but i like it). I havent used it as a tanning oil yet but I am excited to try it out!

Finally, The Whet Nail Polish. I was super excited to receive this nail polish because of the beautiful blue color. I really loved the color but the formula of the polish was super thin so it required 2-3 coats to get a full color. Without a base coat and finishing coat, the nail polish chips pretty easily. I shall try it with a base coat and finishing coat to see if that makes difference.
below is a swatch of the polish (no top or base coat, 2-3 swipes)
Overall, July was a pretty good month! I loved 3/5 products and 2 products are in middle. I cant wait to see what awaits for me next month.

IPSY June 2014 Bag Review

Of course its July when I finish my review of my JUNE IPSY bag! Anyway, June was definitely a better month for me. I was excited to try all the product (except for the perfume, which I tried anyway). I received The Marc Anthony Beach Spray, Be the Bombshell mascara, Realtree perfume, NYX buttergloss in Crème Brulee and the OFRA universal eyebrow pencil. I liked the bag itself this month but I wish it was brighter and less Hawaiian shirt-like.

First, The Be the Bombshell mascara. I was really excited to try this but then I opened up the mascara and almost threw up. The smell was so AWFUL. It smelled like paint thinner, acrylic and garlic. With that repulsive smell, I couldn’t even CONSIDER putting it NEAR my eyes. Honestly, I don’t think that it is safe to use even though the company has assured that it is okay. I plan to clean out and brush and just use the brush

Next, the realtree perfume. I’m pretty picky about scents so I wasn’t really excited to receive this in my bag. I tested it out and smelled pretty much the same as some other scents. It was too much flowery and not enough of anything else. It just isn’t my scent.

Next, the OFRA eyebrow pencil. This eyebrow pencil is definitely not universal. Its just a medium-light brow which is too light for my brows. Also, the pencil itself was just too soft to use as an eyebrow pencil. However, I did find that this pencil is pretty decent eyeliner pencil. So I use it as a eyeliner and it’s nice. Below is the swatch.

Next, The Marc Anthony Beach Spray. I was really excited to try this because I can’t seem to find one that works for me. When I tried this on dry hair, it didn’t do anything. But it did work on wet hair. The scent is my favorite part of this spray though. The smell is to DIE for.  I plan on trying this again with my wet hair and try to keep it intact longer.

Finally, NYX butter gloss in Crème Brulee. Im not a big lipgloss person but I had to try this because I love NYX as a brand. This lipgloss was AWESOME! The smell was a delicious vanilla and it went on smoothly and wasn’t super sticky. The pink color was a bit too light for my taste but it will great for the winter months when my skin is lighter. I loved this product so much that I went out and bought another color! Below is a swatch.

Overall, my june bag was an improvement from my may bag. I got to try some nice things and even found a lipgloss I like! Cant wait for my july bag!

IPSY May 2014 Bag Review

So this has been a long overdue review because I have already received my june bag (which was pretty great!). Like others, I was a bit disappointed with my may ipsy bag. It’s not that I don’t care about facial or hair products, I do, but I have products I trust and prefer. My skin is picky about products and so is my hair. In my bag, I received the Avene Spring Water, Hang 10 sunscreen SPF 50, Eva NYC hair mask,  Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow duo 2 and the Crown Brush pro blending fluff brush (after trading my hey honey mask for it),  Anyway, I am going to review each product separately.

First, my least favorite product: The Avene Spring Water. It is literally just spring water in a can. But the worst part about it was it made my skin a bit irritated. I feel like a spray bottle of water  would do a better job than this product. I still have it and use it if I need to spray water.

Next, the Hang 10 suncreen SPF 50. While I loved the design, I really wasn’t looking forward to sunscreen because non-spray sunscreen always leaves behind weird white residue and sunscreen is something a lot of people have already. I tried the sunscreen though. It was like any other sunscreen I have tried before. Also, if I wish I got a sunscreen with less SPF because 50 is just too much for me. 15 and 30 are more appropriate for me.
Next, The EVA NYC hair mask. I have never tried a hair mask so I decided to try this one out. While the smell was AMAZING, the product worked the same as my conditioner. My conditioner keeps my hair looking good for a longer time than this product though. My hair got dirter a lot quicker when I used this mask compared to my conditioner. I will use this as a backup especially because of the smell.

Next, the eyeshadow duo 2. While others complained about the pigmentation, I only noticed poor pigmentation on the purple color (which was disappointing because it’s my favorite color). I really like the white-gold color. I have used this a couple of time when I wanted a simple natural look. This was one of my favorite products of the month. .
Finally, the Crown pro blending fluff brush. I traded my face mask for this and I’m glad that I did. This brush is pretty soft and is a good size for blending. I love my coastal scents one but this one is perfect one to be my travel brush. I never heard of this brush company before so I will definitely check them out.
One more thing, My favorite thing from the May bag was the bag itself! This is one of my favorite bag to date! It is super cute and the canvas material goes great with the more natural theme of this bag.  I love it so much that I can’t decide what to do with it!
